Advantages and Disadvantages of Using a Touch Screen Phone

There is hardly anyone out there nowadays who doesn’t need and use some form of mobile or Cell Phone. To say that it has made life easy would be an understatement. Communicating with loved ones across the globe has never been easier. You can be just about anywhere doing anything and your loved ones are but a few clicks away.  In case of an emergency, dialing 911 from your mobile can save lives and this has been seen innumerable times.

Newer and more advanced versions of mobile phones are the touch screen phones. As the name suggests, on this type of phone the screen is sensitive to touch. You no longer need to click on the number pad to get your desired number, as the numbers appear on the screen. All you have to do is touch the number lightly. That’s it. What’s even more interesting is how you can slide the page down with your finger tip like you would an actual piece of paper, and going to a particular application requires a gentle touch on the name of the particular application.

What makes the whole touch screen phone all the more enjoyable is not just the ease of use, but the number of fascinating applications that are available for upload.  Just exploring the variety of game applications leaves you mesmerized. This is of particular interest to those with children at home.  Even for adults, there are a number of challenging and interesting games that can keep you busy for hours.

The size of the screen on most touch phones is big enough for you to view videos and movies quite comfortably. That alone is enough to attract the younger generation of users who spend more time in front of the computer or the television screen. A lot of their time is spent watching their Blackberry videos.

Despite, the continuous growth in popularity of touch screen phones there are definitely some disadvantages that users must be warned about. Not only is it a little on the expensive side, it is fairly costly to have repaired should it get damaged. Some users who are already used to pressing buttons on a regular phone may find it difficult to switch to the touch system. Additionally, the icons are small that it can be difficult to touch the specific one you are looking for.

With all the advantages and disadvantages, it is up to the user to decide what kind of cell phone they require. They can browse the various available brands on the net and select one that is most suited to their needs and price range.
